Mother ~ Daughter Day at CSP

Yesterday I was blessed to be able to spend the morning with Concordia students and their moms photographing them as they got ready to kick-off the Mother ~ Daughter Day event.  The event was hosted by Susan Ries, wife to current CSP president Tom Ries.  She worked with an awesome group of Concordia Women to plan and make this dream a reality.  The day included photos, brunch, break-out sessions to local attractions such as the History Center or Como Conservatory as well as a service event option at Mary’s Place.  Here are just a few details from the beautifully decorated room, as well as a couple of highlights from our photo-booth. Thank you for the great morning ladies! More photos will be up on the Facebook page this week.

Emily & Tyler {Maple Grove, MN Wedding}

Many words could be used to describe Emily and Tyler’s wedding…beautiful, loving, unique, thoughtful,  but none would do justice to just how amazing their day was.  It was a joy to witness the love shared between Emily and Tyler, not to mention the love their family and friends shared for and with them.  Their ceremony was a beautiful reminder of the grace-filled love given to us through the waters of holy baptism.  Their reception was a fun-filled celebration of their new lives together.

Thank you Emily and Tyler for including me in your day, and being an amazing example of a Christ-centered marriage.

Here are just a couple highlights from this beautiful day:

Kat & Josiah {Family}

Dear Kat & Josiah, thank you for being awesome. Love, Megan.

If you know Kat & Josiah then you know I speak the truth. They are awesome. If you don’t know them then you’ll have to take my word for it.  I first met Kat my freshman year at college where I was the unsure freshman and she was the crazy-cool RA on the second floor.  Since that time we’ve become friends and through her, Josiah and I as well.  I am beyond blessed to have them in my life.  They are a quiet yet bold witness to what a Christian marriage looks like and are continually trying to live an authentic life.  Thanks for gifting me with the opportunity to capture some of your awesomeness on camera guys!

{I’m pretty sure this was taken after Kat had helped me get the burrs out of my hair after I backed up into them to get a shot prior to this….and then almost did it again.}

Melissa & Joan {Family}

Melissa is becoming a regular here, every other month or so….May, August, October. But this time Melissa’s mom Joan joined us in front of the camera.  I truly enjoy spending time shooting this family.  Both mother daughter are a lot of fun to talk with and it makes the session time just fly by.  Thanks for yet another wonderful afternoon ladies! Enjoy the previews!

Dana & Ross {Esession}

Have you ever met one of those couples that just exude happiness?  The kind of happiness that just makes you smile from being around them?  Dana and Ross are one of those couples.   I spent an afternoon walking around downtown De Pere and St. Norbert’s campus trying to capture just a little of this magic through my lens.  Dana and Ross are getting married in August and I for one cannot wait to spend the day celebrating their love.

Thank you for the smiles guys!

MN State Parks Seasons Project-Better, catchier name coming soon.

I have fallen in love with the Minnesota State Parks. Really I don’t know how someone couldn’t fall in love with the MN state parks. They’re beautiful.  Living in the cities has given me a new appreciation for nature. There’s nothing more peaceful than getting up before the crack of dawn on a Saturday morning and driving 100 miles to catch the sunrising over the St. Croix River (or at least attempt to, that particular trip was delayed due to snow…in October). Or walking along the path at Fort Snelling, just a couple miles down river from both downtowns and sharing your morning with a family of deer.

One of my favorite parts of growing up and living in the Midwest are the seasons. I just can’t imagine a life without fall leaves, snowmen, spring buds, or glistening lakes in the summer. Each season has its own personality, its own gifts it gives us.  My goal over the next year is to spend some quality time in the MN state parks and capture as much of these seasons as I can and then combine it all into a book of some sort. So stay tuned for updates as the year progresses.

Here are a couple of my fall favorites from this year.

…did I say a few favorites? Ok so a few times a couple. I started this little project late this fall so fall will end up being a combination of 2009 and 2010.

Thanks for stopping by, and Happy Thanksgiving!
