Natalie & Josh | Engagement Session

One of the blessings of this job is the ability to be witness to the amazing moments in my friends lives.  I’ve been able to be there as friends commit to their spouses, celebrate the joy of the family they’ve created, and one of my favorite things to do capture the nervous, cuteness of engagement photos.  Today was one of those days. I got to spend a few hours on a lovely, Madison day with a friend of mine from High School, Natalie, and her fiance Josh.  It was great being able to hear their story, catch up in between poses and locations and enjoy just being back in Madtown (how lucky am I that we got to shoot at some of my favorite places, Olbrich Gardens, Dane County Farmers’ Market on the Capitol Square and the Monona Terrace).  I can’t wait to spend a whole day with these two and their loved ones next summer.  Enjoy the previews my friends and thanks for a great morning.

2. Post a photo of your military family* (Include your name, branch and years served)

3. Encourage your friends and family to vote for your photo by liking it on the Facebook page

Voting will run through Thursday, May 21st with the winner being announced on Friday, June 1st.

*Side note: Family can be whatever you wish it to be-grandparent, aunts/uncles, group of friends, etc.  The only rule is that it must include one veteran.

A *Flurry* of excitement!

That’s right *Flurry* as in…S-N-O-W. Boy, living in MN never gets old, not with the constant surprises in weather. The weather gurus are calling for snow tonight. I’m hoping for a light dusting that will look great in photos or nothing at all, thank you very much.  But back to the excitement part of the flurry…. tomorrow I will be shooting Melissa’s senior portraits at Como {one of my all time favorite places in the cities}.  The goal is to shoot in the outdoor Japanese Garden as well as indoor in the conservatory, hopefully we can still get some outdoor shoots in despite the colder temperatures.  I’ll post a sneak peak image later tomorrow so be sure to check back for that, but in the mean time, here’s a photo that I took last summer at the garden on my little point and shoot:

Other exciting things happening soon…maternity shoot next weekend, wedding in June, oh and my future step-sister gave birth to two adorable twin boys this week! May is indeed off to an exciting start!

Matt and Mindy.

I got to spend a wonderful afternoon photographing two amazing friends of mine.  We traveled all over the Twin Cities and only got to about half of the locations we wanted to.  We’re planning on going out again in a couple weeks when the leaves start to change.  I’m blessed to have friends that are not only supportive of my love of photography but don’t mind spending an afternoon being subjects as well! Matt and Mindy will be married in a year from today on September 18th, 2010.  Congratulations you two and thanks for a great shoot.

J&J esession l 9.4.09

Catching up with old friends is usually either a blast or awkward. Tonight was a lot of fun. I got to reconnect with Jenni and meet her fiance Jeff as well.  We spent some time downtown at the Capitol and at the Monona Terrace.  Here are a couple of teaser shots from our shoot tonight. Thanks for the great night guys! Can’t wait till June!

Tara and Nick e.session l 7.2.09

Tara and Nick were able to make a quick trip into the cities to visit friends and we were able to connect for some photos.  The photos came out great and they were a lot of fun to work with. Not to mention the great job that Nick did considering he’s still wearing a neck brace from the accident a couple months back.

Welcome to MegHuff Photography.

Hi, and welcome to MegHuff Photography.

meI’ve only started to dip my feet into the world of professional photography over the past year.  Professionally I have done weddings and engagement photos and am available for portrait sessions as well.  Personally I have a love of capturing images of the cities I adore, the small things that most people overlook, the beauty of the creation God has given us, and the people in my life.  For information about pricing and availability contact me at

Why I do what I do:

“The act of taking photos for photojournalistic purposes, (that is photographing other peoples’ lives) should start and come from the same place deep down, in the middle of our heart where we feel the emotion of our own lives.  It’s the place that makes us feel excited when we are in love, the place that hurts so bad when we grieve, the place that is the center of all the butterflies we feel when we are anxious, the place that makes us feel awe when we see something beautiful, the place that feels like we are going to explode when we are angry and the place that makes us feel so good when we are just plain happy for no reason at all.  A good photographer knows this place well.” –Nancy Ford on Photojournalism from the Soul
